The Sky
is The Limit For The US Men's Relay Team February 16, 2002 Sure I might make a fool out of myself, and it wouldn't be the first time, but I am predicting a strong US showing in tomorrows 4 x 10 Kilometer Men's Relay. The last World Cup, Olympic or World Championship relays for the US team have ended badly, with results around 14 or 15th place. In these races, they usually beat only one or two teams. But even with this track record, my optimism is based upon these factors: home court advantage, healthy skiers, and they have skied well so far this week. They have six skiers that look fit and ready to race. The possible line up could be John Bauer, Kris Freeman, Justin Wadsworth and Carl Swenson, with Andrew Johnsen and Patrick Weaver ready to step in if anyone is sick. A good result would be top 8th, but studying the results and thinking that this is the last chance some of these skiers have to do great, they could step it up much further. I, therefore, believe that if everything goes perfect including great wax, no pole breaks, no crashes, no blow ups, then The Sky Is The Limit. And this time the sky is A Bronze Medal. And to all you pessimists out there - sure I'm nuts, but it feels good and you just got to believe! Think positive and it just might work! |
